Data Warehousing and Analytics for the Retail

The Case

Being in the dynamic retail business, the client needs powerful reporting and real-time analytics on a voluminous amounts of data, accumulated every second. IBM stack for analytics – IBM InfoSphere DataStage and IBM Cognos BI were chosen at corporate level, to address the complex and sophisticated demands for drill-down reporting, insights’ generation and data visualization via dashboards.

The Solution

ScaleFocus joined the project from the initial phase of the automation of extraction from the source system. Implantation of the new data was divided in 3 different layers. All transformations, aggregations and enrichment of the data were made in IBM InfoSphere DataStage. The consultants also got involved in the creation of the logging mechanism for DataStage jobs realized with KornShell scripts. Furthermore, they performed transformations, aggregations and enrichment of the data with IBM InfoSphere DataStage.
