Tech & Career

What inspired you to pursue a career in Salesforce development, and what keeps you passionate about it?

Sorry to disappoint, but I don’t have a super inspiring origin story 😅

It started pretty randomly during uni. A friend mentioned his company was looking for interns – I applied, got in, and discovered Salesforce for the first time. Funny enough, he became my mentor, and that got me hooked. What keeps me going is how much Salesforce evolves. Every new release brings something fresh, so it never gets boring.

How has your role evolved since joining Scalefocus, and what’s been your biggest technical challenge?

I started as a Software Engineer II and grew into a Senior role. One big challenge was redesigning how users manage quote amendments using Salesforce CPQ, which has its own rigid logic. Building custom calculations on top of that really pushed me to get creative within its limits.

What’s a common misconception about your work?

People think it’s just clicking buttons and building reports. Sure, that’s part of it – but there’s a lot of coding, custom logic, automation, and integration involved. We’re solving real business problems, not just dragging things around!

How do you stay up to date with Salesforce without burning out?

I focus on what’s relevant to my work instead of trying to learn everything. I love using Trailhead – it’s fun and low-pressure. I also follow Salesforce Ben, check in on Reddit and the Dev Forum, and even pick up tips from LinkedIn posts.

What advice would you give to someone starting their Salesforce journey?

Keep an open mind – Salesforce is more interesting than it looks. Start small, be curious, use Trailhead, and don’t stress about knowing it all. It clicks with time!

Leadership & Growth

How has leading yoga sessions at work shaped your role?

It’s brought good vibes and fun energy to the office. Starting the day with stretches and laughs is always a win.

They help me stay calm and focused when things get hectic. I’m more patient and creative – and a bit more understanding with my teammates too. (Still working on perfecting it though 😄)

What’s one soft skill every developer should build?

Communication! You can be a coding wizard, but if you can’t explain your work or understand others, teamwork becomes tricky. Clear communication saves time and headaches.

How do you define growth – personally or professionally?

Growth means being a bit better than yesterday. It’s not always a big moment – sometimes it’s just quietly leveling up, or staying calm when your code breaks for the third time.

Beyond the Code

Who’s had the biggest influence on your career?

Definitely the friend who introduced me to Salesforce. But honestly, I learn from everyone I work with. I’m always picking up tips and tricks from the people around me.

What surprised you most about leading yoga at work?

How much people loved it! I thought it’d be a one-off for Yoga Day, but now if I’m late, people ask, “Where’s the stretch sesh?” It feels great to have made it a thing.

If you could host a yoga retreat anywhere, where would it be?

Tough choice, but I’d love to host a yoga retreat in Bali. It’s got that perfect mix of nature, peace, and culture. Just imagine early morning stretches with the sound of birds and palm trees swaying, followed by fresh tropical fruit and maybe a dip in a waterfall.

What’s your go-to recharge after a long coding session?

A Cafecito and some chitchat with coworkers out front in the sunshine. Works like a charm every time.

If not tech, what would you be doing?

I’d be a pharmacologist.

You believe “you’re only as young as your spine is flexible” – what other mantras guide you through life?

Yes, that’s what I say to my yoga students to keep them inspired to keep moving. But for life in general, I’d say ‘improvise, overcome, adapt.’ Having a flexible mind is just as important as a flexible spine – because change is the only constant, and rolling with it is how we keep growing.
